Construction: Introduced to iDVD

In todays lesson we were introduced to a new piece of software which was accessible from the macs, we were taught the basics of iDVD, we learnt how to create a menu so that when the examiner watches of film, they are able to chose from a variety of options, from watching our film to accessing our blog. We were then told the development stages the CD would go through from production right to the finished product, this will allow Hungry Films to send off our final edited film in a much more proffessional format.

Evaluation: Planning our evaluation

Today me and my partner Deet got together to plan our evaluation for our 2 minute film opening. To complete the evaluation we must answer the following 7 questions...

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? (i.e. of film openings)

2. How does your media product represent particular social groups ?

3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

4. Who would be the audience for your media product?

5. How did you attract/address your audience?

6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

7. Looking back at your preliminary task (the continuity editing task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

To answer these questions, me and my partner have decided to work together on answering these questions through different uses of media, for example youtube and powerpoint. For each question we will brainstorm all the possible ideas in which we can write for it so that we have a clear idea of our planning.

To present our ideas we will be using the online presentator prezi.com which allows us to become creative with our presentation skills, prezi allows you to add images, previous powerpoint slides, videos etc which we believe we be extremely helpful for getting our evaluation across.

Construction: Video finished!

Today was the day that me and my partner had finished editing our opening movie clip, we knew it was finished because we thought there was nothing we could really add to it to make it any  better, we made sure that we had finished the titles, sound and any other transitions that would make the film look good. We hope our film is up to a good enough standard to be able to get us a good mark.

Construction: 'Hungry Films' video introduction

Today me and my partner decided we wanted to create an intro for our 2 minute opening, we believed that if we did so, the film would look much more professional and 'realistic' alike other movie openings, also it would that little extra time onto our maximum 2 minutes opening time.

The software we used to create our intro was Adobe After Effects as it would give us the best results...

As I use After Effects quite a lot in my spare time, I learnt how to make a simplistic movie intro, however we could of used a template off the internet but we thought that may come across as to technical for us. Not only did we have to create the animation, we also had to find sound effects which would link in with the movements of the animation, this was a long, thought out process which took time however we believe we sorted out the right sound effects which matched the animation.

Below is our 8 second title intro....

Construction: Titles and sound

In the next stage of editing our 2 minute film opening, we started to add titles and sound. The reason in why we have added titles was because we partly wanted to lengthen the time of our movie but also i believe it adds tension to the start of the film. We had added music so the start of the film did not become boring and we also believe that the music is an incredibly important part of a film as it adds tension and creates the mood of the scene.

We edited our titles so that they are all the same and the font and background colour was the same so that the finished edit didn't look un-professional. We had used the colours black and white in the titles which create a negative mood straight away even if the audience haven't watched any of the clips yet, the white also shows purity whilst the black shows darkness.

We picked the music which would fit our movie perfectly as it is one of the most important parts of the movie because as I said it creates the mood and creates tension. Although we had tried to create music on GarageBand we didn't feel we could create a good enough song which would suite the film, instead we chose music of a copyright free website called freeplaymusic.com which allowed us to pick a good composed song for free.
